Mrs. Alisa Smith joined the staff of Sequoia Star Academy in 2014. Since that time, she has built up the singing program at Star to include two choirs, including an audition-only A Capella group. Both choirs sing a variety of music, performing in shows throughout the school year.
Mrs. Smith has been singing since 1997, and taught private voice lessons to students of many ages before joining Star. She grew up in Colorado, and while there, was frequently nominated to participate in prestigious singing groups, such as Colorado All-State choir. She specialized in Vocal Performance in college, and received her Bachelor’s of the Fine Arts from Southern Virginia University. While there, she was commissioned to sing in Roanoke for Christmas and Easter. She continues to audition for various musical productions in Arizona, and sings on a consistent basis outside of Star.
It is easy to see Alisa’s passion for music of many styles. Each year, her classes are filled with challenging repertoire that will stretch her students’ abilities. However, through the challenges, there is fun around every corner as the students get to know each other and learn how to sing and work together. We look forward to seeing the choir classes of Sequoia Star Academy progress each school year, and we know this will be a great one.
